Fourteen years later, the same developer
Wei Ting Weng released FingerLaser on iPhone in January 2012, a one-person project built around a single idea: your finger fires the laser. The sequel, FingerLaser II, followed that October.
In Japan, FingerLaser II went on to earn 4.8 stars on the App Store. AppBank, 4Gamer and Famitsu App covered the series in Japan; in Taiwan it was reported by Bahamut GNN, featured on Bahamut's video show 電玩瘋, and written up by Techbang (T客邦). In Italy, Tecnologici put the first game on its list of the best free iPhone games of 2013, next to Jetpack Joyride.
In October 2012, FingerLaser II reached No. 1 on the Taiwan App Store's Top Free iPhone Apps chart, across all categories and above YouTube. It got there during a limited-time free promotion, and that was the plan: the game was listed at a price first so that the day it went free, the app-deal sites would pick it up.
FingerLaserX is that game rewritten from scratch over the past five years, again by one person, now on both iOS and Android.
